WiFi Wise does not collect any data. It has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers operated by us. We do not see, store, or transmit any information about you or your device.
What the app does on your device
To diagnose your connection, the app performs standard network tests from your device: it contacts your own router and a small number of neutral public reachability endpoints (such as Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, a Google connectivity-check URL, and Apple's captive-portal check) to determine whether the internet is reachable. These are the same kinds of checks your operating system makes automatically. Results are processed only on your device.
Internet provider lookup
To show which internet provider you are using, the app makes a single HTTPS request to ipinfo.io. That request necessarily includes your public IP address (as any internet request does), and ipinfo.io returns the provider/network name. No other information is sent, and the result is shown only on your device. ipinfo.io has its own privacy policy.
Location
If you grant Location access, the app uses it on your device to show the name of the Wi‑Fi network you are connected to (iOS requires location permission to read the Wi‑Fi name) and your approximate area. Your location is reverse‑geocoded on the device and is never collected, transmitted, or shared.
Local storage
Your past diagnostic results are saved locally on your device so you can review them. They never leave the device, and you can clear them at any time from the History screen.
